Plan NOW to make your company part of one of Wichita's oldest and biggest events when the 2017 Wichita Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff erupts in the heart of downtown Wichita for the 33rd consecutive year of one of the grandest street party and fundraising events in town.

Step 2: Take advantage of this huge opportunity for team building and choose your category:

    No-Beans   This in not an ICS category and it's what it says - don't put beans in it!
    Anything Goes   Another non-ICS category just as easily explained - anything you want!
    Chili Verde   ICS sanctioned category for ICS members, please see applicable rules
    Red Chili   ICS sanctioned category for ICS members, please see applicable rules
    Home-style Chili   A new category to welcome in new ICS members, rules apply
    Salsa   ICS sanctioned category offering entry to the World Championships like all ICS categories
    Chili For Charity   In its 2nd year the allows your non-profit to compete for your favorite charity

Step 4: Make it fun and start organizing your team. Form a committee and turn them loose to layout your booth, develop promotional ideas to promote your company and to make the day one to remember.

Remember all of the necessary information is available at www.wagonmasterschili.com but here are some insights to get you started

The streets will be lined with competitor booths and each team will be provided with a marked space approximately 18 feet wide. This will allow adequate room for your stove, prep table, serving table and all supplies.

All teams will be required to adhere to the requirements for safe and sanitary food handling as outlined by the Sedgwick County Health Department.

    Here is a list of some of the suggested supplies:

      Chili ingredients (see rules)
      Stove/heat source (propane suggested)
      Pots & pans
      Ice chest
      Serving gloves
      Hot water container
      Canopy or pop-up tent
      Table & chairs
      Cutting boards & utensils
      Soap, paper towels
      Oven mitts/hot pads
      5 gallon hand wash container

In addition to your competitive chili (see rules) bring or prepare at least 10 gallons of non-competition chili for public tasting (20 is recommended). This is what draws attendees to your booth so you can highlight your company or cause. And, this is your entry to win the coveted "People's Choice" award. You can't collect beans and win if you don't have plenty of chili to serve!

Why do Wagonmasters do this? Well, as civic-minded business executives we have one purpose and that is to promote and sell the good live in Wichita. The money raised at this event funds our Good Life Grants in conjunction with the Wichita Community Foundation. Your participation as a sponsor and/or as a competitor allows us to funnel thousands of dollars directly back into Wichita needs. We are very proud of this and hope you will participate in 2017 and share that pride and sense of community with us. Thank you fellow Wichitans!
